The series is an adaptation of the telenovela La Reina del Sur which is aired on USA’s Sister network Telemundo. Both of them have been adapted from the novel of the same name, La Reina del Sur written by Arturo Pérez-Reverte. The series has a total of 4 seasons with the fifth season running with a total of 58 episodes altogether until now.

The pandemic situation all around the globe delayed the production of the fifth seasom which was suspended indefinitely on March 14,2020. After a delay by several months, the show could be released only recently on April 7,2021. The fifth season being the final season of the show will premier the series finale on June 9,2021.

The series starring Alice Braga,Hemky Madera, Alfonso Herrera,Veronica Falcón, Justina Machado and many more known artists; revolves around a poor Mexican woman,Teresa Mendoza who turns her life around as she starts making money by selling drugs. Soon, she builds a vast drug empire and becomes a druglord.

Mendoza lived in Mexico where she fell in love with a member of a drug cartel. She later finds out that her boyfriend has been murdered and is forced to flee. She crosses the border to the United States and seeks vengeance for her boyfriend’s murder.

In the US, she teams up with a person from her past in order to hunt down the killer of her boyfriend and to finish him. She eventually ends up setting her own drug distribution organization and end up becoming rich which brings in more problems for her.

The viewers are also quite eager to know if the season 5 of the series is coming up on Netflix any sooner. But, the chances of the series coming up on Netflix this year is quite low.

The very first season of the Netflix which was released on June 23,2016 made it’s way to Netflix in May 2017;eight months after the release of the final episode of the season.

While the second season arrived on Netflix nine months after the release of the season finale. The same happened in case of season 3 and season 4. So, by looking at the patterns of the release one thing is sure that the season 5 of the show isn’t coming to Netflix this year. It might probably end up on Netflix by the early 2022.
