Rick and Morty Season 5 Updates: Rick and Morty’s latest adventure takes them somewhere truly dreadful : a recreation of the classic Star Trek episode “ Spock’s Brain”.

Rick and Morty have travelled to strange new worlds before, but their latest endeavour takes them to a truly dark place: a pastiche of one of the worst Star Trek episodes ever made.

In Rick’s New Hat! Written by Alex Firer with art done by Fred C. Stresing and colours by Andrew Dalhouse, Ricky and Morty are expected to completely twist the plot, which of course with Rick and Morty there has to be something that hints at larger, darker meaning behind the humour.

The fifth season of Rick and Morty debuts on June 20th , the show portrays the ongoing adventure of mad scientist / drunkard Rick and his shy/awkward grandson Morty.

The popular show was released back in year 2013 and has remained popular ever since, the show is well known for ridiculing science fictions and fantasy plots in their entire episodes ( Mad Max post – apocalyptic wasteland, Nightmare on Elm Streets dreamscapes. etc), and now they have turned towards Star Trek’s parody which fans have been waiting on, However it will come from the single worst episode of the original series, Spock’s Brain.

Shrewd Star Trek fans will immediately find similarities to Spock’s Brain, the infamous episode from the third season of the original series in which the Enterprise is attacked and boarded by a mysterious attacker who quickly paralyses the crew on board, when they return to Kirk and the rest of the company they realize Spock is left in a unconscious state, and in the words of  Dr, Mc Coy, “ He is worse than dead …his brain is gone!”

The Enterprise in pursuit of Spock’s Brain detects the thief’s planet and a landing party beams down along with Spock, who is seen wearing a weird contraption on his head.

The episode was seen as a massive step back from the high – concept episode of the first and second seasons and is said to be the worst episode from the original series.
