CD Projekt – The Game’s Uneven Launch Was A “Huge Lesson,” According To Cyberpunk 2077’s Developer

Published by

CD Projekt executives have proceeded to voice regret about the way Cyberpunk 2077 was launched at the end of 2020. Behind the game’s phenomenal success (it sold over 13 million copies in less than a month), the condition of the new RPG from the venerable Polish studio was less than ideal. As a result, the people in charge at CD Projekt say they’re making a point of learning from the whole object.

Those in charge of CD Projekt started to emphasize that things didn’t work out as planned when Cyberpunk 2077 was announced during a call with investors going over financial details from 2020. “We were able to bring a new IP to the market and into the minds of gamers all over the world,” one of the studio’s executives said. “With The Witcher franchise, CD Projekt now has two solid foundations on which to develop its future. But, as we all know, not everything went according to schedule. It was a life-changing experience for us that we will never forget.”

CD Projekt’s leaders said they’ve been looking internally a lot to figure out how to resolve the issue that forced Cyberpunk 2077 to debut in such a bad condition in the first place. “We’re going through a lot of changes within the business, as we’ve been worrying a lot about,” one of the bosses said, “and we think we’ve learned a lot of lessons from all that’s occurred so far.” That being said, there were no further specifics about what these developments within the firm would entail.

Given how well Cyberpunk 2077 sold, the game’s mediocre reception at launch had a greater effect on CD Projekt Red’s reputation among fans than anything else. CDPR was possibly one of the most well-liked creators in the sector leading up to the release of the game, owing to its huge success with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Many fans would remember the studio’s swift destruction of goodwill. CDPR will have to earn back fans’ confidence in the future, even though its future ventures appear to look as promising as Cyberpunk 2077 did before its publication.
