What is an oath in Eid Ul Fitr 2021?
Two Eid festivals are celebrated in Dubai each year, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. The ninth month in the Islamic calendar is called Ramadan. On Eid al-Fitr, the commandment of fasting ends for all Muslims worldwide, the name means something like “the festival of breaking the fast”. Both the end of the fasting month Ramadan and the beginning of the lunar month Shawwal – the tenth month in the Islamic lunar calendar – are celebrated. The second Eid festival, the Eid al-Adha, does not take place until later in the year and follows the pilgrimage to Mecca, which is called “Hajj”. Eid Al Adha lasts four days and begins on the tenth day of Dhul Al Hijjah, the twelfth and last month in the Islamic lunar calendar.
When is Eid Ul Fitr celebrated?
As per Wikipedia, A year in the Islamic lunar calendar has 354 days. Compared to the solar year, it is eleven days shorter. That is why Eid al-Fitr takes place on a different date every year according to the Christian calendar. In 2019, Ramadan took place from May 5th to June 4th. The sugar festival celebrations begin on the last day of the month of Ramadan. This and the next three days are public holidays in Muslim countries.
How is Eid Ul Fitr celebrated in Dubai?
On the morning of the first Shawwal (tenth month) the whole family gets up early and gets dressed up in new oath clothes for morning prayer at home or in the mosque. On this day there is a big rush in most mosques because everyone should participate in the festive prayer if possible. Then you visit the family. Usually, the younger family members visit parents, older relatives, and friends. With family and friends, people gather at a festive table with elaborately prepared dishes and commemorate the past month of Ramadan. The end of the fasting month is celebrated with numerous delicacies such as cakes, sweets, sweet pastries, and much more.
Are gifts given for Eid al-Fitr?
It is customary to exchange gifts with loved ones, mainly children. In addition, during the Sugar Festival, people express their compassion for the sick and the poor. Therefore, many Muslims make a donation on the day of the Sugar Festival. The third pillar of Islam provides for a donation (zakat) for every Muslim. The money is often collected in the mosque after the festive prayer. The donations go to the poorer people in the Muslim community.
