Ride or Die Updates: Sometimes loose ends fall perfectly into place, every plot falls into place, a story can feel too good and true to be real. People aren’t perfect and are full of flaws; they tend do things that are different and bizarre.

We believe lies, and give ourselves and devote ourselves to love. The Netflix Japanese import Ride or Die is all about being about human’s flaws being exposed and being messy.

Ride or Die was adapted for the screen from a manga series Gunjo. In the tradition of Yuri manga stories, it focuses on a homosexual relationship, though this one’s far more different than every common homosexual or same-sex relationship.

Rei (Kiko Mizuhara) is introduced on her way in a nightclub. In the club she sets her eyes on a man who’s sitting alone. It’s unclear what draws her to him in particular, but she gets his attention by buying him a drink, and in no time they’re in a cab together.

This tension ascends quickly, and ends just as soon as they start. Rei in the groove get on top of him, and keeps riding him while she reaches for a scalpel. She kills the man in cold blood by slashing his throat and shoves  broken wine glass into him. What could compel her to do such a thing? Ride or Die whole plot revolves around this question.

The answer involves Rei’s high-school crush, Nanae (Honami Satô), and the relationship between the two women, which starts back up after this gruesome murder. Ride or Die does a great job showing that Rei and Nanae’s past complications aren’t as simple as all other same-sex relationships.

They’re attracted to each other, but the topic of cultural paradigms on homophobia and significantly, their class differences come between their love. Nanae grew up poor in an abusive house while Rei is the product of her affluent childhood. This push and pull between the women is continuous as they are on the run.

The other major attention-attracting element of Ride or Die is the nudity. Both of the women strip down many times and its all in different places. and the nudity is handled tastefully as it is used as a way to show how vulnerable and honest is their relationship .

The encounters with Rei’s family and different strangers along the journey make the plot more interesting. Ride or Die strikes some strange vibes and features some chilling motives.

It’s messy and imperfect which makes it bizarre and extremely real.
