Wentworth Season 8 Premieres on Netflix on September 30

Wentworth Season 8 Updates: Wentworth is a ground-breaking Australian drama series. The show has received mostly positive critical acclamation. The series is a reimagining of the classic Prisoner Cell Block H series which ran on Network Ten from 1979 to 1986. Wentworth is a gritty and mystery drama series.

It is dark and more real than any other prison based show which is good enough to make one watch it. The characters are not sugar-coated, that is, the show does not shy away from showcasing the brutal and dark nature of the characters which completely suits the theme.

On top of that it shows an all-women prison and  the politics going on in it, which adds more drama to the whole series. The show has received several accolades and nominations since its debut in 2013 – 24 Logie Award nominations, winning seven in total; Award for Most Outstanding Drama Series in 2015, 2018, 2019 respectively; Award for Most Popular Drama Program in 2018.

Wentworth is a modern adaptation of the classic Prisoner Cell Block H series bringing in all  the iconic characters. Unlike the Prisoner series, Wentworth starts with showing the early lives of the characters – what caused the characters to be in prison. Wentworth is set in modern-day Australia.

The main character is Bea Smith who murders her husband. She is sent to Wentworth on remand where she has to live in an uncompromising environment with other prisoners and learn how to survive, eventually becoming the top dog.

Season 7 of Wentworth was supposed to be the final season, however, season 8 was released and season 9 is going to be the last season. Season 8 picks up from where season 7 ended – in the aftermath of the siege. Season 8 and season 9 introduces a few new characters.

Season 8 is equally good as any other season. Season 9 of Wentworth has already finished production. The series is likely to make its Australian debut in summer 2021 and will be released on Netflix between June and September 2021. No official trailer has released or any release date has been updated. The lead cast is expected to return.

Like season 8, season 9 can also be expected to pick up from where season 8 ended. Also since it is supposed to be the last season so one can expect a lot of twists and turns before closures. Fans have to wait a little. It is going to be an extremely exciting and nerve wracking season to watch with many unexpected twists and turns.
