Netflix Original Movie ‘Monster’: Everything you need to know.

Published by

Anthony Madler’s MONSTER made its debut at the Sundance Film Festival three years ago. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming poignant drama movie.

ABOUT THE MOVIE

Monster is a forthcoming Netflix original legal-drama film. It is directed by Anthony Madler and is based on an adapted script by Radha Blank, Cole Whiley, and Janece Shaffer. Initially, the film was named by its original title, “All rise”. But after Netflix acquired the distribution rights to the film, the title was changed to “Monster” which matches the novel from which the script is adapted.

The novel was given by Walter Dean Myers. It has received many awards and is notable for the mixture of both first-person diary entries and third-person screenplay.

Currently, the release of Monster of the world’s biggest streaming network will fascinate a lot of people. This is due to the social unrest in the USA regarding the historical oppression of African-Americans and the hugely spread Black Lives Matter movement.

PLOT of MONSTER

Kelvin Harrison Jr. is the main protagonist is the lead actor in the movie. He plays the role of 17-year-old Steve Harmon, a native of Harlem attending a respected film school. Steve is described as a smart and likable kid. His life changes drastically when he’s accused of felony murder. Jeffrey Wright plays the father of Steve. The teaser trailer gives us a glimpse of Steve in juvenile detention. “When you were born I thought of all the scenes in your life. But I never saw anything like this,” says his father. The description on Netflix says that the film follows Steve’s journey “through a complex legal battle that could leave him spending the rest of his life in prison.”
