Following the success of season 3 of”Cobra Kai” On Netflix, the executive director of the streaming platform has just announced that the series will present the new episodes of its fourth installment in 2021.

Ted Sarandos, CEO of Netflix, was responsible for announcing that the fourth season of “Cobra Kai” is scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year.

Cobra Kai Season 4 Announcement

This new installment began filming in February and will be the first to be produced after the passage of “Cobra Kai” from YouTube Red to Netflix.

“What happened in the first part of this year was that many of the projects that we expected to come out earlier were postponed due to post-production delays due to COVID-19, and we believe that we will return to a more stable state in the second half. of the year, certainly in the fourth quarter, when we will have back some of our most popular series like ‘The Witcher’, ‘You’ and ‘Cobra Kai’, as well as some great movies, ” explained Sarandos.

The “Cobra Kai” series is inspired by the movie “The Karate Kid” and its original sequels. This production brings back William Zabka as Johnny Lawrence and Ralph Macchio as Daniel LaRusso. The story begins when Johnny reopens the Cobra Kai dojo and rekindles his feud with Daniel more than three decades after their fight in 1984.

“Cobra Kai”: why one of the final scenes of season 3 was changed

The final shovel was held at Daniel LaRusso’s house after Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang Karate joined forces to face Cobra Kai, who came to unleash a fierce confrontation. However, the battle was supposed to take place elsewhere. Season 3 of “Cobra Kai”ended with the Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang Karate dojos preparing to face the mythical Cobra Kai of John Kreese (Martin Kove). But, originally, the end had to take another direction. The West Valley High students were supposed to destroy Daniel LaRusso’s (Ralph Macchio) home, but instead set the fight in a field that referenced the “The Karate Kid” movies.

The final episode was titled “December 19th” , In this the students of LaRusso’s Miyagi-Do dojo and the newly formed Eagle Fang of Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) decided to join forces, without the knowledge of their senseis. Miguel Díaz (Xolo Mariduena) and Samantha LaRusso (Mary Mouser) rekindled their romance and teamed up to stop the cancellation of the All Valley U18 Karate Tournament.

In said episode of the third season of “Cobra Kai” , Mariduena’s character led other Eagle Fang students to Sam’s house, where they agreed to make an alliance, but the Cobra Kai arrived to attack them. In the fight, Hawk (Jacob Bertrand) switched sides, Miguel faced Kyler (Joe Seo) and Sam faced his arch enemy. Tory Nichols (Peyton’s List). However, the battle was supposed to take place elsewhere. Why did the production decide to change it?

WHY WAS ONE OF THE FINAL SCENES OF COBRA KAI SEASON 3 CHANGED?

The fight was supposed to take place at the Miyagi-Do dojo, which is located in the home of the late Mr. Miyagi. While the royal house that Miyagi left for Daniel-san was converted into a dojo, the backyard features a lush garden and koi pond, a place that evokes the home of Miyagi, Okinawa, and where LaRusso trains. your students. But, as the show’s stunt coordinators Hiro Koda and Jahnel Curfman revealed to EW, the reason the location was changed was due to inclement weather.

The producers considered installing rain towers and staging the fight in the rain, but while that would have been visually stunning, the reality of a dozen young actors and stuntmen filming at night outdoors and in the mud made that idea. unfeasible. So the decision was made to change the location of the fight to LaRusso’s home, which had an even greater advantage of being an indoor setting that the production could fully control.

In season 1 of “Cobra Kai”, the LaRusso home was a real home that they filmed in, but in season 2, the interiors were reproduced on a stage. By moving the Sam LaRusso fight into the house, he gave the production more freedom in terms of hallways, rooms, corners, and nooks to make the fights between the teens more varied. Additionally, the producers gave the green light to wreck the set as much as they wanted, adding to the chaos.

The final fight of season 2 of “Cobra Kai” at West Valley High increased the level of violence in the series, but that confrontation was also a pleasure for the audience, which season 3 had to try to overcome. Moving the fight to LaRusso’s house increased the fear of Sam, who feared facing Tory Nichols again, as it was the sanctuary of his own house that was now being raped by his enemy and the Cobra Kai Season 4.

The relocation of the final fight to LaRusso’s house also leaves Miyagi-Do free to be a possible venue for another melee in Cobra Kai Season 4, though fans of the “Karate Kid” movies are also dreading the idea of having Mr. Miyagi’s house destroyed by Daniel-san and Johnny’s students and their enemies
