Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.2: Boosts PS4 Performance, but Xbox Sees No Change

Published by

Cyberpunk 2077 Updates: Even after a huge 1.2 patch arrived last week for Cyberpunk 2077, players are still seeing major performance issues in the game’s console versions.

Though Cyberpunk 2077’s 1.2 updates were alleged to improve performance across all platforms, the Xbox One X version of the sport remains visibly struggling as compared to the PlayStation 4 Pro version. The patch, which CD Project Red promised would come with “numerous overall quality improvements and fixes,” was delayed beyond its original release date thanks to the hack and infrastructure damage the corporate endured earlier this year.

The patch finally released last week, making fans hope that a number of the notorious bugs and performance issues that had been plaguing players since the game’s launch would be fixed.

Even though the 1.2 patch includes over 500 fixes, it didn’t improve the sport the maximum amount as many hoped it might. There are still major physics issues, frame rate drops, texture pop-in, and odd AI behavior that make players’ journey through Night City less smooth than it might be.

Many of the fixes were geared toward previous-gen consoles, which are traditionally the versions of a game that require the foremost enhancement so as to face up next to current-gen console versions.

While the PlayStation 4 Pro version of Cyberpunk 2077 received a reasonably significant performance boost, the Xbox One X version still seems to possess significant performance issues. Eurogamer went into detail about the technical differences between the 2 versions, comparing aspects like frame rate between patches 1.1 and 1.2 for every system.

The patch seems to sacrifice detail in favor of flat frame rate improvements: while the sport runs slightly more smoothly in crowded areas, texture pop-in is rampant, and environmental assets take a big amount of your time to render.

As seen in Digital Foundry’s comparison video, the PlayStation 4 Pro version of the sport now reaches 30fps far more frequently, only dropping into the 20s when there are tons of NPCs or visual effects on the screen. as compared, the Xbox One X version frequently stays around the mid-20s in terms of FPS.

While this is often still an improvement over the 15-20fps that the Xbox One X version had before the 1.2 patches, it trails significantly behind the PlayStation 4 Pro version.

The Xbox One X version also still has occasional hitches where the FPS drops to 0, a problem that was present before the 1.2 patches; these stops are nowhere to be found on the PlayStation 4 Pro.

While the improvements that are included with the 1.2 patches aren’t to be discounted, it’s disappointing that previous-gen console versions of Cyberpunk 2077 are still so messy, particularly because these consoles aren’t that old and were the foremost powerful systems of their generation.

Players don’t expect last-gen consoles to possess the simplest, most beautiful performance, but they are doing expect those versions of the sport to truly run. While the PlayStation 4 Pro version is now significantly better, other versions are still cursed with major performance issues, even after the fixes and enhancements included with the 1.2 patches.

The 1.2 patches may be a major breakthrough for Cyberpunk 2077, but it also shows that there is still a big amount of labor to be done. Between stories of crunch, development issues, and therefore the continuing problems with the game’s performance, CD Projekt Red’s reputation is slipping.

If it wants to take care of its fan base and generate hype effectively for future titles, it must make some serious adjustments to all or any versions of the sport, or fans might be saying goodbye to its titles permanently.
