Hightown Season 2 Updates: Hightown, a Cape Cod-set drama starring Monica Raymund and directed by Jerry Bruckheimer, has been renewed by Starz for a second season. The broadcaster, which is backed by Lionsgate, said the crime drama had set a new record for series premiere audiences across its digital platforms around the world.

Jerry Bruckheimer Television and Lionsgate Television produced the eight-part series, which premiered on May 17 and was renewed after the fourth episode aired. Hightown follows a woman’s sobriety trip as it is overshadowed by a murder investigation.

Monica Raymund, who starred in Chicago Fire, portrays Jackie Quinones, a hard-partying National Marine Fisheries Service agent whose life is turned upside down when she finds a body on the beach, another victim of Cape Cod’s opioid epidemic.

Jackie takes the first steps toward sobriety to cope with the trauma before she realizes it’s up to her to solve the homicide. Riley Voelkel, Shane Harper, Amaury Nolasco, and Atkins Estimond also star alongside James Badge Dale. Raymund expressed her delight at the prospect of starring in her first cable drama to Deadline. “As much as I enjoy network television, I’ve never had the opportunity to stretch myself by doing cable television, and I come from a theatrical family, so I enjoy stories with a lot of layers.
