Bridgerton Season 2 Will Turn Anthony’s Daphne Mistakes Against Him

Bridgerton Season 2 Update: Rather than pursuing Daphne as the main character, it has been announced that Anthony Bridgerton will be the main character in Bridgerton season 2, and the plot will turn the mistakes he made during Daphne’s courtship against him. Anthony plays the stern older brother and patriarch to Daphne in Bridgerton season one, being very rude to any suitor and dismissing them outright.

Daphne is the toast of the region, so she can have her pick of worthy bachelors, but Anthony is too loyal and dominant to allow her a shot with any of them. His acts backfire as Daphne finally winds up with his own best friend, Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings, in a devious plan.

Bridgerton Season 2: Update

Although season one of the show was based on Julia Quinn’s book The Duke and I, season two has been reported to be based on Anthony Bridgerton, as does the second book in the series, The Viscount Who Loved Me. Following his father Edmund Bridgerton’s early death by a bee sting, Anthony inherits a host of problems in the book series, including the Bridgerton Viscounty at the age of 18, a pathological fear of bees, and the expectation of early death.

Because of his complicated personality issues, he decides to look for a partner but not someone to love, and so he pursues the most worthy woman in the lot. Enter Edwina Sheffield, whom Anthony tries to woo. One problem is that her elderly guardian, half-sister, Kate, won’t get her younger charge to be wooed by the famous rake, Anthony Bridgerton.

An elderly sibling in a matchmaking and courtship style echoes the deeds of Anthony in Daphne’s own year. Anthony certainly has no hope of opposition from an older sister of the lady he wants to marry as such an eligible bachelor. In this way, season 2 of Bridgerton will transform the errors of Anthony from the first season into problems of his own courtesy in the second season.

Kate is a strong-willed person who winds up constantly sparring with Anthony, ending up in her own courtship. Despite the resistance of both characters to the flowery ties, the two end up married in a very Bridgerton manner, avoiding a scandal. It’s a tale reminiscent of pride and prejudice and an appropriate next move for the character cast of the season, which has recently been revealed in Kate’s role as the cast by Simone Ashley.

Bridgerton changed a host of story and character characteristics from the novels in the first season and added their own protagonists and tracks. The next installment is expected to do the same, and so the books may not be the exact roadmap to what is about to happen, but this makes the change an interesting prospect. Having rejected many of Daphne’s supporters Anthony would be irritated – irresistibly – by the same dilemma in reverse, offering the audience a chance to cheer for the eldest brother of Bridgerton during season II.
