Biomutant Update: Biomutant, the long-awaited game from THQ Nordic and Swedish developer Experiment 101, will be released on May 25th. Since its announcement in the summer of 2017, this promising RPG action/adventure game has wowed fans with its unusual, vivid post-apocalyptic universe of mutant animals – though new information on the quirky title remains scarce and far between.

What is known about Biomutant so far is that players will assume the role of an unspecified anthropomorphic raccoon fighter, who they will be able to completely customize in traditional RPG fashion, with options ranging from regular size and gender choices to more colorful features including fur form, fangs, and even robotic limbs and mutant powers.

The story of Biomutant is said to revolve around saving a fictional “Tree Of Life” from a poisonous oil plague, with branching paths, dialogue choices, and a specific “Karma” mechanism that changes how NPCs and party members respond to the player depending on how they handle them.

Much of this sounds very interesting, and thankfully, curious gamers won’t have to wait long to check out Biomutant for themselves. Biomutant’s official Twitter page confirmed the game’s long-awaited release date of May 25, 2021, earlier today.

Biomutant will also be available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One; no news yet on if it will be released on the PS5 or Xbox Series X, though backward compatibility could fix the problem. THQ Nordic will go on to talk more of this in a handout on their website, announcing a number of Collector’s Editions that would feature dioramas, T-shirts, mousepads, and collectible figures of Biomutant’s biggest playable hero.

Since its release four years ago, more information about the sport has been sparse, but THQ Nordic has told players that Biomutant is still in progress, despite numerous delays and the game’s large file size. However, the developer recently had to issue a warning to fans after receiving a series of fake e-mails from con artists posing as performers on the project in order to steal personal information.

Biomutant’s post-apocalyptic world, extensive character customization options, and the promising blend of Kung-Fu action and mutant powers all sound interesting, so the news that it’ll be out in a matter of months is good news for players looking for a unique RPG experience. THQ Nordic and Experiment 101’s persistence could pay off in the form of one of 2021’s most outlandish-yet-hopefully-rewarding titles when it actually reaches stores in May if everything goes according to schedule.
