Dungeons & Dragons: Hugh Grant Cast As Villain in Movie

Published by

Dungeons & Dragons Updates: Hugh Grant, an English actor, has signed on to play the villain opposite Chris Pine in Paramount and eOne’s Dungeons & Dragons film adaptation.

Hugh Grant has agreed to play the villain in the Dungeons & Dragons film, which is being co-produced by Paramount and eOne. Chris Pine will play the lead role in the still-untitled film adaptation, which was previously confirmed. The fantasy adventure film’s development began in 2015, but the cast has just recently begun to take shape.

Dungeons & Dragons is a popular fantasy tabletop role-playing game that has over 40 million fans and is still live-streamed across the Internet today, having been created in the 1970s.

Dungeons & Dragons has been owned by Wizards of the Coast, a Hasbro subsidiary, since 1997, and has been made into a number of films and anime series with limited success.

Over the years, several authors and directors have been attached to the upcoming Dungeons & Dragons project before deciding on John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, whose previous projects include Spider-Man: Homecoming and the action-comedy Game Night.

Though plot specifics are scarce at this point of production, it is speculated that Grant’s antagonist will be Forge Fletcher, and Lillis will play Doric.

Michelle Rodriguez, Justice Smith (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom), and Bridgerton star Rege-Jean Page have all been cast in the movie.

These five, along with Pine and Lillis, could make up the film’s main adventure team, which is usually 4-5 players in a D&D session. The terrifying Eye of Vecna, a famous artefact in D&D mythology, was mentioned in an early version of the film’s script, indicating that this group of explorers will be on a mission to find it.

These forms of treasure hunts and adventurer fellowship are well-known in tabletop role-playing games, and they could make excellent material for a big-budget action-adventure film.

Hugh Grant, the charming and handsome English actor, is perhaps better known for his parts in romantic comedies, such as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom in Love Actually, but his recent appearance as an accused murderer in HBO’s The Undoing shows flashes of menace.

This film, on the other hand, is supposed to have a more comic feel. Grant should do well in the position in any case. The release date for Dungeons & Dragons is set for May 27, 2022.
