Space Force Season 2 Update: Netflix launched the widely awaited Space Force comedy series in May 2020, produced by Greg Daniels and Steve Carell of The Office, and inspired by the Space Force initiative of President Trump.
The show follows the turmoil that ensues as his life is uprooted by General Mark R. Naird (Steve) and travels to Colorado to run the US. Newest Branch of the Armed Forces.
The streaming giant gave the show the green light for a second season after getting differing feedback from TV critics.
The show would switch its shooting place from Los Angeles to Vancouver in an effort to bring down the show’s budget, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It’s just one of the many adjustments in-store as Space Force Season 2 hits Netflix early next year.
Although all the ten episodes of the first season of Space Force were released on the streaming service on May 29, 2020, it is not yet clear if the second season will be ready by next spring, especially given the unpredictability of the coronavirus pandemic.
Netflix has not shared a set premiere date at the time. We’ll make sure to quickly update this story, of course, until we know more.
There have been no casting changes confirmed so far. We may presume, for the time being, that for season 2, the following actors will reprise their roles:
Sadly, at the age of 86, actor Fred Willard, who played Mark’s dad, Fred Laird, in Space Force season 1, died just before the show made its Netflix debut.
Specifics remain up in the air on what General Naird and his squad will (or will not) do in the second season. That said, since President-elect Joe Biden will be sworn into office on January 20, the show will almost definitely have to discuss the evolving political climate.
As writers wrestle with writing about a new government in 2021 (and what it could mean for the future of the Space Force), screenwriter Norm Hiscock of Parks and Recreation is getting on board as part of a “creative revamp.”
THR sources confirm the Standard is being taken about in hopes that in season 2 and beyond, like The Workplace, Space Force can expand and better interact with audiences. What’s more, for season 2, actor Jimmy O. Yang will join the show’s scripting staff.
The second episode of Space Force, like the first season, will be available for viewing exclusively on Netflix. Although the subscription service actually does not give potential subscribers a free trial period, you have the option of committing to one of three separate options, beginning at $8.99 per month with the first one.
Any internet-connected gadget that provides the software, including smart TVs, game consoles, digital video devices, set-top boxes, smartphones, and tablets, is compatible with Netflix.
