Clarice Reveals When the Show Takes Place After Silence of the Lambs

Clarice Updates: CBS announced precisely when Clarice, a sequel to The Silence of the Lambs, will take place in a recent synopsis for the premiere episode of the season.

The Episode 1 synopsis by the series revealed that the series would begin one year after the events of the 1991 film by Jonathan Demme, which ended in the basement of Buffalo Bill.

For Season 1, Episode 1, the official description reads, A year after saving Catherine Martin from the nightmare of the basement of Buffalo Bill, FBI Agent Clarice Starling receives an immediate assignment from Catherine’s mother, Attorney General Ruth Martin (Jayne Atkinson), to join the Violent Criminal Apprehension Program (VICAP) on Thursday, Feb. 11 on the CBS Serial Debut of CLARICE in the investigation of three serial killings.

Clarice Synopsis:

About two weeks after the first official trailer for Clarice premiered, the synopsis was released. The trailer showed that in Washington DC, Clarice Starling (Rebecca Breeds) was living in terror.

Following the horrific events of her case surrounding Buffalo Bill and Hannibal Lecter, serial murderers. However, to solve the case of a murdered young lady, Starling is asked to live up to her reputation for hunting monsters by moving to her hometown in West Virginia.

Due to copyright conflicts between MGM studio and The Dino De Laurentiis business, the CBS sequel would not feature any plots or references to the Lecter character.

Instead, The Series will concentrate on the relationships between the titular character and characters created by author Thomas Harris of Silence of the Lambs who have not previously featured in NBC’s Hannibal series, including her colleague Ardelia Mapp (Devyn Tyler), Deputy Assistant Attorney General Paul Krendler (Michael Cudlitz) and Buffalo Bill, the late serial killer.

The Silence of the Lambs spinoff series will also investigate the world of law enforcement that was historically male-dominated, as well as observe a fictionalized version of the FBI as it struggles with the aftermath of real-life events, such as the bombing of Waco and Ruby Ridge and the first World Trade Center.

Clarice stars Rebecca Breeds as Clarice Starling, Paul Krendler as Michael Cudlitz, Tomas Esquivel as Lucca de Oliveira, Shaan Tripathi as Kal Penn, Agent Clarke as Nick Sandow, Ardelia Mapp as Devyn Tyler, and Catherine Martin as Marnee Carpenter. The series premiers at 10 p.m. on Feb. 11. P.m. ET/9. CT on CBS All Access and CBS.
