The Blacklist Back For Season 9: Every Update Here

Blacklist Season 9 Update: It’s official- The Blacklist has been renewed for its 9th season at NBC. The series is currently airing its eighth season and stars James Spader and Megan Boone as criminal hunters. Today when streaming platforms like Netflix are dominating the TV drama scene,  The Blacklist has remained an arbitrator for those who still need a dose of serialized crime-solving.

In The Blacklist Raymond “Red” Reddington(James) is a former member of the FBI’s most-wanted list who allies with the Bureau to take down a list of dangerous criminals in exchange for vindication.

He works with profiler Elizabeth Keen (Boone) to find out the targets of his “blacklist”. Though the ratings of the show have stooped to a low over time, The Blacklist has still maintained a devoted fanbase for itself waiting for the episodes to air weekly.

Hence it is good news for those fans as they will continue to see more of Blacklist in the future, with the series officially announced for its next season. The release date and other details are yet to be out, but the storyline could be expected to be an extended version of Red and Liz hunting down the criminals from their blacklist.

A large part of NBC’s popularity in the original comedy and drama department can be credited to a popular series like The Blacklist. The network has commendably managed to cope up with the existing streamlining sharks by cutting out a seemingly sustainable niche for themselves.

And with dedicated fans for the shows like This Is Us and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and reality TV and late-night programming are a bonus. Syfy and Bravo, also owned by NBCUniversal are continuously finding success while traditional networks continue struggling.

NBC themselves has entered the streaming marketplace recently with a subscription service called Peacock. Peacock is currently the exclusive streamer for The Office and Parks and Recreation, and also offers different payment models for its subscribers.

The organization has also cracked a deal recently to become the exclusive streamer in the US for WWE. They are also planning to integrate Peacock and the WWE Network in March, putting more and more money and effort into their own streaming front. In this scene, series like The Blacklist are keeping the fires burning for traditional network TV.
