Ginny & Georgia First Look Is Netflix’s New Dramedy the Next Gilmore Girls?

Ginny & Georgia Updates: Maybe you loved Gilmore Girls—the mother-daughter relationship, the role-reversal dynamic between the two, their witty banter—but did you ever wish it had more crime?

Netflix has the show for you, and it’s not just another Gilmore Girls revival. In the event that you’ve invested any energy whatsoever in Stars Hollow, the plot of Netflix’s new Series “Ginny and Georgia” may sound sort of natural.

The platform release a progression of first-look photographs for the hour-long dramedy on Thursday, alongside a release date: The 10-episode rookie season will make a big appearance Wednesday, Feb. 24.

Ginny and Georgia star Antonia Gentry (Raising Dion) as Ginny, an abnormal 15-year-old young lady who regularly feels dominated by her enthusiastic 30-year-old mother Georgia, played by Brianna Howey (Batwoman, The Exorcist). Do you hear that, as well, Gilmore Girls fans? That’s right, we’re certainly detecting some Lorelai-and-Rory vibes here.

Ginny & Georgia Dramedy

Ginny & Georgia

Georgia moves her family to a beautiful New England town (like Gilmore Girls!) to give them “something they’ve never had… a typical life,” per the authority portrayal.

“However, it’s not all carpool and fermented tea as Georgia’s past follows them to undermine her and her family’s new beginning.” Based on the connected photographs, it would seem that Ginny needs to experience the standard young adult developing torments, while Georgia dunks her toe into the nearby dating pool.

Ginny & Georgia has one thing Gilmore Girls doesn’t, though, which is that some sort of seedy past seems to threaten their new life. The dramedy-meets-thriller implies that Georgia is on the run from something, which doesn’t make settling into their quaint Massachusetts version of Stars Hollow all that easy.

The supporting cast incorporates a large group of precedent and familiar appearances, including Friday Night Lights alum Scott Porter as the town’s city hall leader Paul Randolph and Happy Together’s Felix Mallard as Marcus.

Debra J. Fisher (Being Mary Jane, Witches of East End) fills in as showrunner and leader maker, with newcomer Sarah Lampert as maker and EP.
