Witcher Season 2: Blood Origin Prequel Casts Its Main Character A Warrior Turned Musician

Witcher Season 2 Updates: In their upcoming The Witcher: Blood Origin series, a six-part limited series, and prequel to The Witcher, Netflix cast Jodie Turner-Smith as the lead character, Éile.

Recently, it was revealed that this new prequel will introduce a plethora of new characters and explore the origin of Geralt of Rivia, the crux of the franchise, by Henry Cavill.

A huge hit for Netflix was the first season of the original series, bringing in readers of Andrzej Sapkowski’s books and short stories that the show is based on, the CD Projekt Red video game trilogy, and new viewers alike.

The prequel will take place about 1200 years before The Witcher’s storyline, according to Netflix’s press release, and they will explore the creation of the first Witcher and then how the worlds of monsters and men became one.

Turner-Élie Smith is a warrior who has left her house to become a traveling singer as a guard, but unfortunately, for a once-in-a-lifetime journey, she must soon pick up her sword again.

Most notably, Turner-Smith was in The Neon Demon of Nicolas Winding Refn and Queen & Slim of Melina Matsoukas, building a varied and impressive filmography.

The Witcher’s universe gains another actor worth their salt with her leading the upcoming prequel series, much like Henry Cavill. It helps to open the door for a different story that will hopefully bring her other work to more viewers and fans. A release date has not been announced yet for The Witcher Blood Origin.

Blood Origin is a six-part, live-action series set 1,200 years before the Henry Cavill series, as reported by Deadline. Taking place before the Conjunction of the Spheres, the series tells a completely original story not touched by the books or the games, and following the events leading up to the Conjunction and the creation of the very first Witcher (the event in the Witcher lore that brought all the monsters and the magic to the world of men).

Recently, the British actress appeared in the movie Queen & Slim and previously appeared in Syfy’s Nightflyers, TNT’s The Last Ship, and HBO’s True Blood.

The show will be a limited six-part series. Declan de Barra will be the showrunner, and Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, the Witcher showrunner, is an executive producer.

There is no date for the premiere yet, but a debut in 2022 seems likely. Meanwhile, sometime in 2021, the eagerly anticipated second season of The Witcher is expected.
