Unresolved WW84 Plot Can Bring Back Cheetah In Wonder Woman 3

Published by

Wonder Woman 3 Updates: The lack of resolution in Wonder Woman 1984 about Cheetah’s story provides a way for Barbara (Kristen Wiig) to stay important in Wonder Woman 3.

Before the end of the film, the character was vanquished by Diana (Gal Gadot), but another appearance from her in the DCEU was not ruled out, and in the next Wonder Woman film, she could potentially make a return.

It is already known that a third solo movie for the character is in progress, with Patty Jenkins heading the project once again. Diana had to deal with Barbara Minerva in Wonder Woman 1984, a gemologist who had her hands on the magical Dreamstone.

Barbara acquired superpowers out of a desire to be more like Diana and became a physical threat to those around her. She formed an alliance with Maxwell Lord after Barbara learned what was happening, which helped fulfill her dream of becoming an apex predator by converting her into her comic book equivalent, the Cheetah.

Barbara put up a strong fight against Wonder Woman as the Cheetah but was finally taken down. A scene at the end of the film showed that, after Lord was beaten, Barbara lost her Cheetah form and the wishes he gave were unilaterally renounced.

Wonder Woman 3 See what happened to Barbara?:

Since losing her Cheetah skills, what happened to Barbara was not seen, and Patty Jenkins agreed that this was deliberate. Jenkins said she had her reasons for holding ambiguous the ending of Cheetah.

This probably makes it seem like the character for the next movie is on the table, but it’s worth asking how she will function because Wonder Woman 3 is not going to be a period piece.

That means that when she reappears, she will be about 40 years older. What robbed her of the Cheetah transformation was the Lord renouncing his lust, but what about the skills she got from the first desire to be like Diana?

Barbara has never taken her to wish back on the television, but it is likely that she has never achieved so and thus still has her powers. If she indeed possesses the attributes of Diana, it would mean that she still shares the immortality of Wonder Woman.

Being eternal will allow Barbara Minerva to remain involved until Wonder Woman 3’s timeline in the DCEU. It could be that she’s always alive and waiting for a way for Diana to get her payback.

Instead, her ambition could be to become a Cheetah again. If Barbara spends enough time looking, it is likely that she will discover another mysterious artifact or even some other magical way to obtain the power she needs. If so, Wonder Woman 3 will actually offer an authentic Cheetah origin story from a comic book.
