The Girl On The Train Netflix Revealed Character Poster

The Girl On The Train Updates: Netflix has purchased The Girl on the Train from Reliance Entertainment, starring Parineeti Chopra (‘Kesari’), and will premier it on the Feb. 26, 2021, service.

As revealed by Variety, the film is an official Bollywood adaptation of the 2015 bestseller by Paula Hawkins. A 2016 Hollywood version starring Emily Blunt was produced by Amblin Partners, DreamWorks, Marc Platt Productions, and Reliance Entertainment, and directed by Tate Taylor.

Ribhu Dasgupta, who previously helmed Netflix’s original Bard of Blood, which was created by Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies, is directing the Bollywood version.

The film follows Meera (Chopra), who, during her everyday commutes on the train, fixates on the ideal lives of a couple from afar. She witnesses something out of the ordinary one day, something that surprises her. As she begins to uncover the facts, the film follows her path.

About The Girl On The Train Dasgupta’s talk:

He always wanted to pursue this genre, Dasgupta said, and he loved this unique story. In terms of the emotions and mysteries that he was able to delve into in this thriller, there is plenty to relate to both rejection, loneliness, voyeurism, daily commutes where we see and don’t see things.

The film was due for theatrical release in May 2020, until those plans were canceled by the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. In November 2019, Chopra revealed an image from the film to her 31 million followers on Instagram.

Reliance Entertainment group chief executive officer Shibasish Sarkar said that The Girl On The Train marks our first Netflix film collaboration, with many more to come.

We are very excited about this suspense thriller, the directorial sensibilities of Ribhu, and the extraordinarily talented cast. They are thrilled to bring The Girl On The Train to our members in India and around the world, said Pratiksha Rao, director, content acquisition, Netflix India.

They want to be the host of the country’s most exciting films. A great addition to the incredible and diverse selection of films on Netflix across many languages is this riveting murder mystery.

Reliance has a widely awaited forthcoming Bollywood lineup, including holdovers for 2020: 83, starring Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone; Sooryavanshi, starring Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, and Singh; Cirkus, an adaptation of The Comedy of Errors by Shakespeare, starring Singh again; and Thandhiram, starring Dhanush, a Tamil-language jagame.

Since 2009, Reliance Entertainment has collaborated internationally with Steven Spielberg to form DreamWorks Studios and, subsequently, Amblin Partners. Several popular films, such as Aid, Green Book, and 1917, have been made by the partnership.
