Action Star Scott Adkins Talks Max Cloud And More Exclusive Interview

Max Cloud Updates: In Hong Kong, undisputed franchise star Scott Adkins began working with martial arts legends Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung, leading to four different films opposite Jean-Claude Van Damme, and eventually starring in larger films such as The Bourne Ultimatum.

In the infamous pre-Deadpool clunker X-Men Origins: Wolverine, he doubled for Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson and played a disciple in Doctor Strange of Mads Mikkelsen’s villainous.

In The Intergalactic Adventures of Max Cloud, a sci-fi video game-themed action comedy released at the end of 2020, written and directed by Owen Martin, Adkins plays the title role in (Killers The English-born actor and mixed martial artist, in this exclusive interview with Looper, talks about working in Max Cloud alongside Lashana Lynch (No Time to Die) and Tommy Flanagan (Sons of Anarchy), balancing comedy and action, the video games he played as a kid, and the Marvel hero he would love to play.

What makes Max Cloud’s Intergalactic Adventures different?

It was before the new iteration of Jumanji came out when I read the script. So, Wow, it felt really fresh. This was like it. It was unnoticed previously. For that reason, I was quite intrigued to do it.

It felt like Big, a film like that [is] very whimsical from the beginning. And it’s obviously something that most individuals can relate to, being into video games and being stuck in that game.

It was a cool idea, and a lot of space for comedy, obviously, but also action, which is my bread and butter. It was like checking out all the boxes I was searching for at that point.

What do you expect from Max Cloud audiences?

I want people to watch my films and have a nice time to watch and enjoy them. I mean, I don’t think any social message or anything like that will be taken away.

Would only like to turn off your brain. You know, it’s pretty anxious obviously the time we’re at the minute. It is just switching out, enjoying riding, having fun, and forgetting your problems and struggles.

What have you learned to film Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung in your early career with Martial Arts legends?

Max Cloud

Well, I really learned all from this experience, because I was very lucky when my initial movies, action films, were directed by people like them because they really are the best. Probably Sammo Hung is the best ever, action director.

The way he moves your camera, the way he fights, is phenomenal with what he does. A rich knowledge, I mean.
I have learned the best from the best and learned how it should be done so, so as to make it look as good as possible, and throughout the rest of my career, I have been able to do this with a full understanding of what it takes to get the battle going well.

What would you say was the most demanding action sequence for this film and what would you tell me about it?

There was Andy Long [Andreas Nguyen]. He is a part of the stunt team for Jackie Chan. And as a filmmaker as well as a stunt performer he is very experienced and clever. I felt I’ve been in truly good hands, therefore. I only let Andy do what he was willing to do. Yeah, it really looked good.

Max Cloud: Are you working on anything, or are you looking forward to working on things again?

A lot of iron fires, a lot of projects were stopped. Some of them will be easier than others at this point to get off the ground. I have one movie I like to think of as a COVID-proof because it has few actors and is in one place.

There are so many extras and lots of locations that are more COVID-proof than others say. So we will see, that sort of thing just waiting for it to work out a little more, so hopefully, in the future, it will be easier.
