John Wick 4 Might Film This Year Says Ian McShane

John Wick 4 Updates: Ian McShane, playing John Wick’s enemy Winston sheds light on the upcoming series of John Wick, hinting that the movie is expected to commence production this year.

The first John Wick that starred Keanu Reeves hit the theatres in 2014 making way for two successful sequels afterward.

On a $20 million production budget, the first film grabbed a whopping $86 Million worldwide, with each of the following installments outnumbering the last.

The last film of the series, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, was suspected to the end of the franchise. John Wick 3 ends with a fierce fight to protect The Continental in which John Wick is shot by Manager Winston, played by McShane.

However, it is later revealed that Wick didn’t die as he’s taken to the Bowery King and is presented an opportunity for revenge. This allows a rather smooth transition for John Wick 4.  But as the world came to a halt due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the production went out of the window.

John Wick 4: What Ian McShane has to say?

The original release date of the film was May 21, 2021, but due to Reeve’s involvement in both John Wick 4 and The Matrix 4, they come in jeopardy as both the films shared the same date. Hence,  John Wick 4 is now slated to release on May 27, 2022.

After many delays and little information on the trilogy, McShane has revealed in an interview that they may be gearing up for production on John Wick 4 sometime in 2021.  He said:

“Keanu [Reeves] and I exchanged New Year’s greetings and said, “Hope to see you this year.” I know the script is written, and they’re hoping to do it this year.

I know they announced they were gonna do [The Movie ] and [John Wick 5] together, but who knows. The studios announce all sorts of things. No doubt, at some point this year, we’re gonna do John Wick 4.”

It was also officially announced by Lionsgate that John Wick 5 was going to shoot simultaneously with The Movie as soon as Keanu Reaves becomes available in early 2021.

As the film industry fights to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, it is only sensible that the studio would bank on a film like John Wick that has an established legacy with high box office earnings to cope up moving forward.
