Judas and the Black Messiah: Daniel Kaluuya Submitted as Supporting Actor, Lakeith Stanfield in Lead Role

Judas and the Black Messiah Updates: The official category submissions for the upcoming Oscars have been named. One of the shows to be a part of the prestigious award season is Shaka King’s “Judas and the Black Messiah.”

Chairman of the Black Panther Party, Fred Hampton portrayed by Kaluuya, will be canvassing for the category of the best supporting actor.

In addition to that, the character of FBI informant Bill O’Neal portrayed by Stanfield has been submitted for the best actor category. Grammy winner H.E.R., Dernst Emile II, and Tiara Thomas’ original song “Fight for You,” is also supposed to be featured in the film,

The film scored a positive response for its trailer-debut which was released last year in August. Following that, broadcasts for critics and guild members have already begun.

If viewed from the outlook of the awards, the film has really given an outstanding performance. It can even be considered as the best performance of Stanfield to date.

It follows a man wrestling with the double life that he leads and hints at the consequent terrifying situations. Having already showed his jaws with his breakout in 2013’s “Short Term 12” and another acclaimed performance in “Sorry to Bother You,” he’ll be shoved in the chasm of a very competitive lead actor race.

Judas and the Black Messiah: Daniel Kaluuya Submitted as Supporting Actor

The blistering, ardent, and passionate infusion of the style of the Oscar nominee Daniel Kaluuya, will bring him to a comparative stand against Denzel Washington’s work in “Malcolm X”.

Oscars voters, however, may not let the underlying sensitivity of  Terrence Howard’s work in “Hustle & Flow” go unnoticed. Since the supporting actor category does not have a favorite, it could be expected to bring recognition to the film.

Even Deborah Johnson, now known as Akua Njeri, Hampton’s pregnant girlfriend, Dominique Fishback could be submitted for consideration under the supporting actress category. Her performance truly excels in all levels of what a remarkable performance’s standards are.

H.E.R is listed for three Grammy nominations this year. She has her name selected under the category of “song of the year” for “I Can’t Breathe,” which she shares with Emile and Thomas.

She already won two Grammy titles in 2018, one for the best R&B performance (“Best Part”) and the other for the best R&B album (“H.E.R.”).

Warner Bros.’ whole tab of shows along with “Judas and the Black Messiah” have occupied the entire year to land simultaneously on HBO Max (company’s streaming service) and in cinemas on 12 February.

The film is produced by Ryan Coogler, Charles King, and Shaka King, and stars Jesse Plemons, Martin Sheen, Algee Smith, and Lil Rel Howery.
