WandaVision’s Strucker Watch References Her Age Of Ultron Origin

WandaVision Updates: A commercial is highlighted in the second episode of WandaVision, which traces back the origins of Baron Wolfgang von Strucker and Scarlet Witch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Elizbeth Olsen repeats her entitled role of Scarlet Witch, aka Wanda Maximoff and Paul Bettany as Vision in the Disney+ series.

Both of the characters came to light in the 2015 Avengers- Age of Ultron, and since then have been in limelight in the Marvel Universe. The series, WandaVision acts as a pitch for Phase4 and is also bringing references from past events to set up the ground for the future.

The second Episode continued in monochrome as the protagonists resume their lives in a perfect 1960s sitcom setting. To blend in with the locals of the Westview town, Wanda and Vision decide to take part in a local talent show.

As Vision attended a nearby Neighbourhood Watch meeting, Wanda grouped with local women to prepare for the Fundraiser. The couple had planned a magical act performance for the talent show, it went off the tracks when Vision met with a chewing gum mishap.

Though some of the android’s powers ended up revealed during the performance, Wanda used her abilities to save their secret identities. As the episode approaches the end, Wanda learns that she was pregnant and their reality shifts to color.

Following the trail from WnderVision’s premiere, this episode featured a special-era-appropriate commercial. The advertisement was based on the brand of watches. These watches were termed to be Strucker watches, not compared to any ordinary lot, comprising even a HYDRA logo.

WandaVision: Strucker Watch References

WandaVision

This was to directly point to Wolfgang von Strucker, a notable villain and a former leader of HYDRA. Wanda has a dark past with Strucker, as did Pietro Maximoff, her twin brother (Aaron Taylor- Johnson) famed as Quicksilver.

Wanda and Pietro were bred in Sokovia, but at the young age of 10, the siblings became orphans when a mortar shell hit their home killing their parents. The Maximoff twins grew up hating Tony Stark(played by Robert Downey JR.) whom they blamed for their parent’s death and became allies with HYDRA.

As disclosed in Captain America: The Winter’s Soldier after the credit scene,  Wanda and Pietro volunteered as test subjects for experimentation, the result of which would be acquired as special powers. The experiments were overseen by Strucker using the Mind Stone within Loki’s scepter.

Emerging as Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, the twins came out as the only test subjects that survived Strucker’s experiments. They initially joined Ultron in fighting against Avengers, but after recognizing each side’s motives, switched teams.

In WandaVision’s first commercial, a Strak product was the highlight. Being referred to in the second episode, Strucker continues a pattern of the commercials being connected to Wanda’s repressed emotions. Though Tony had a complicated past with Wanda and Pietro, they join hands.

And as it turns out, Wanda realizes that Strucker’s actions were much more sinister in her mind than in reality.  The death of Quicksilver would have been avoided if the pair hadn’t allied with HYDRA.

We can expect to see plenty more references to her past if the commercials in WandaVision continue to hint at Wanda’s memories resurfacing.
