By the end of the day, he had lowered his dislike of Mr. Miyagi and re-embraced his best friend, who left his nephew Chozen as the evil man who sought to regain his honor to the death that Chozen had suffered by fighting Daniel LaRusso.

In Okinawa’s Tomi Village, Sato and Miyagi grew up as similar as brothers and both learned Miyagi-Do karate from Miyagi’s aunt. Yet Miyagi fell in love with Yukie when they were adolescents, who were engaged to Sato in an arranged marriage.

To his reputation, Sato was so incensed by this insult that he challenged Miyagi to war to the death. Instead, when Miyagi’s father was dying, Miyagi left Okinawa for the United States where he remained away until 1985 when he returned along with Daniel.

Daniel expected to see the agrarian village he recalled in 1985, but he heard that the agricultural culture of the village had been affected by the drying up of their crops.
