Lori Loughlin: After serving about two months, Lori Loughlin was released from jail for her role in the college admissions fiasco.

Back in March 2019, the Fuller House star and her partner, fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, were arrested for allegedly paying half a million dollars under false pretense to bring their two daughters into the crew squad of the University of Southern California.

The nation’s greatest college admissions fraud, engineered by William Rick Singer, featured parents paying huge amounts of money to send their children to selective colleges across the country.

Dubbed Operation Varsity Blues, when over 50 elite celebrities, including Loughlin and Desperate Housewives star Felicity Huffman, became involved, the controversy broke the headlines.

Loughlin was almost instantly dropped from her contract with the Hallmark Channel when the news of the controversy broke and was fired from her famous role as Aunt Becky in Netflix’s Full House spin-off season. Loughlin and her husband were charged with postal fraud and money laundering, but originally pleaded not guilty to the charges and faced up to 20 years in court.

The pair opted to plead guilty to charges of conspiracy in May. In August, Loughlin was formally sentenced to two months in federal prison by Judge Nathaniel Gorton, and Giannulli to five months, beginning in November.

In order to continue her two-month term at the Federal Correctional Facility in Dublin, California, Loughlin surrendered to federal authorities on October 30. Loughlin’s going home now, just two days early.

Since serving about two months for her role in the college recruitment fiasco, Loughlin has been released from jail. Early Monday morning, the actress was officially released, two days ahead of her initial full sentence.

Giannulli, meanwhile, proceeds to complete his five-month jail term in Lompoc, California, at a federal hospital. Hopefully, Loughlin has taken the opportunity to focus on her actions in jail and will also be able to restart her future.

Earlier this month, one of her daughters, influencer Olivia Jade Giannulli, appeared on the Red Table Talk of Facebook Watch to discuss the controversy, demanding forgiveness and stating that she thought she deserved a second chance.
