Mandalorian: Disney confirms that ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ is a ‘Mandalorian’ spin-off series

Published by

Mandalorian Updates: The Book of Boba Fett is an upcoming American television series created for the streaming service Disney+.

It is part of the Star Wars franchise, a spin-off from the series The Mandalorian featuring the bounty hunter Boba Fett from that series and other Star Wars media. With Ming-Na Wen was also starring as Fennec Shand, Temuera Morrison stars as Boba Fett.

The Mandalorian and other former Star Wars newspapers both reprise their roles. Before Lucas film began prioritizing its streaming series including The Mandalorian, multiple attempts were made to create a standalone Star Wars film based on Boba Fett.

When The Mandalorian’s season two finale fell last week, in a post-credits sequence, it teased something called The Book of Boba Fett. It was evident that Boba Fett was going to be in the spotlight for some time, we didn’t know if it was a movie, a news story, an arc on The Mandalorian, or anything else altogether.

That one day, Disney explained that a full new series debuting in the month of December 2021 would be The Book of Boba Fett. Furthermore, we know that it’ll take place in the same general timeline as The Mandalorian, so it wouldn’t surprise us to see an overlap between these series.

The tweet also reveals that Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau, along with Dave Filoni (executive producer of Star Wars Rebels) and prolific writer/director Robert Rodriguez, will executively produce the program (who recently directed episode 14 of The Mandalorian).

Their roles as Boba Fett and Fennec Shand will be played by Temuera Morrison and Ming-Na Wen in the latest episodes.

There’s not much else to go on yet, most importantly who’s going to run the show, but considering that it’s about a year away from debuting, in the months to come, we should learn a lot about it.

Another big question is when The Mandalorian will return for its third season, but it will not bother us to see season three moved back a little into 2022 for a big new series to premiere.
