We called him Baby Yoda, Disney’s promotional content called him ‘El Niño’… and it turned out that he was called Grog. That is, broadly speaking, the journey of the most popular green bug from The Mandalorian. And now, as he has stated in the Entertainment Tonight program (via ComicBook ), it turns out that the Mandalorian himself (that is, Pedro Pascal) knew about that revelation from the beginning.
The Chilean actor, currently on the crest of the wave thanks Wonder Woman 1984, learned of the revelation as soon as filming began on the second season, thanks to the timely tip of Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni and the scriptwriters of the series.
“My favorite part of [The Mandalorian] is how integrated I am in the creative process,” Pascal explained. “They invite me to observe the experience and contribute whatever I can think of. So Jon and Dave pass the scripts to me before we start shooting, so I know everything.”
On the other hand, Favreau has explained (on Good Morning America) that he was clear about the name of the big-eared Padawan long before his encounter with Ashoka Tano.
