Melania Trump: The current first lady of the United States Melania Trump got herself into online controversy as she violates the safety policy of the hospital she visited to read Christmas stories to children. She removed her mask while interacting with the children.
Melania Trump follows an annual tradition of reading to children who are hospitalized at Christmas time. This year also she visited to follow the tradition, however, things went differently this year amid the global COVID19 pandemic. She visited the Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C. on the 15th of December.
She was wearing a green Diane von Furstenberg overcoat. Only two children, Riley Whitney,6, and Sophia Martinez, 8 were physically present in front of her and other children watched her via live stream from their rooms.
The 50-year-old Melania flouted the hospital’s rule as removed her black protective face in order to read the stories to children. Check out the picture below.
Though the two kids seemed to be almost six feet away from the first lady, still the rules were violated. She battled the coronavirus in October and has recovered completely, but still, she has been advised by health professionals to stay alert and continue taking precautions.
Melania TrumpThe hospital’s spokesperson Diana Troese cleared that although the hospital rule is to wear a mask all the times while interacting with any children to limit the spread of coronavirus, under DC Health regulations and guidelines, a mask is not required if a person is giving a speech for broadcasting or for an audience if he/she is 6 feet away from the audience.
She said that the speech and Melania’s interaction was telecasted to the 325 children who were admitted in the hospital.
Though Melania did remove her mask while reading stories to children but she was almost 12 feet away from anyone present physically in that space and everyone was wearing a mask in that atrium. Also, Diana cleared that she was wearing the mask all the other time during her visit to the hospital.
Melania while interacting with children said, “This is one of my favorite events during the holiday season.”
A pretty much similar incident took place when she cast her vote in Palm Beach, Florida. She was wearing a sleeveless dress and accessorized with oversized sunglasses and heels but the most important thing during these pandemic time was missing- a mask.
