Coming 2 America: Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall coming together with First look revealed

Coming 2 America Updates: The upcoming American comedy film ‘Coming 2 Season’ is all set for its OTT released in 2021. The first looks from the Craig Brewer directorial have been released. Check out the ensemble cast of the sequel of Coming to America, then and now.

Coming 2 America is one of the highly anticipated upcoming movies of 2021 as it is the sequel of the 1988 comedy film Coming to America. It is directed by Craig Brewer and will be releasing on OTT giant Amazon Prime Video globally on 5 March 2021.

It is based on the royal country of Zamunda and the story revolves around the newly crowned King Akeem and his best friend Semmi. The duo goes on a fun new adventure that takes them back to Queens, New York.

The movie will star Eddie Murphy(as Akeem) and Arsenio Hall(as Semmi). The sequel will bring some new faces who will be playing other characters from the original movie which includes Jermaine Fowler, Leslie Jones, Tracy Morgan, Kiki Lay, Teyana Taylor, and Bella Murphy.

Eddie Murphy

King Akeem is back! The 59-year-old American actress Eddie Murphy stars as both Prince Akeem Joffer, prince of Zamunda in both parts of the comedy flick.

Eddie has an illustrious career after the release of Coming to America in 1988.  He has been seen in some incredible movies like The Nutty Professor, Dr. Dolittle, Mulan, and the Shrek film series.

Coming to America star has been nominated for Oscars and also won the Golden Globe in the category of Best Supporting Actor for his work in Dreamgirls He has also been a stand-up comedian and also featured in the list of the 100 Greatest Stand-ups of All Time with 10th rank.

Arsenio Hall

The 64-year-old American actor Arsenio Hall will be playing the role of Akeem’s best friend Semmi. He was also in the original cast of the 1988 film.

After Coming to America happened to Arsenio he starting hosting his own talk show titled The Arsenio Hall Show which successfully ran from 1989 to 1994 and later from 2013-2014. He was also the winner of Celebrity Apprentice Season 5.

Shari Headley

Coming 2 America

Shari Headley, 56 will also be returning to the sequel of Captain to America. She plays the character of Lisa McDowell who is the love interest of Akeem in the film.

The American actress and former model also worked in many projects after Coming to America like The Preacher’s Wife, Johnson Family Vacation, and Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween.

She was appreciated for her outstanding portrayal of Det. Mimi Reed on All My Children from 1991-1994. She also starred in the OWN drama series The Haves and the Have Nots as Jennifer Callison from 2014-2016.

James Earl Jones

The 89-year-old actor is just one of the members from the ensemble cast of Coming to America who played the role of King Jaffe Joffer, Akeem’s father and also the king of Zamunda. He will also be seen returning to the sequel.

His voice is considered as one of the most iconic voices in Hollywood as he gave his voice for Darth Vader in the Star Wars franchise and Mufasa in the 1994 Disney film, The Lion King.

Garcelle Beauvais

The Haitian-born American actress Garcelle Beauvais will be seen returning in the sequel of Coming to America as she played a rose bearer in the 1988 film. She played the character of  A.D.A. Valerie Heywood on NYPD Blue from 2001 to 2004 and Fancy on the Jammie Foxx show from 1996-2001.

She was one of the casts of season 10 of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. She was also announced as the new host of the talk show The Real.

John Amos

John Amos who played the character of Cleo McDowell, Lisa’s father will also be returning in the 2021 sequel. He was also seen on the small screen with the recurring role of Admiral Percy Fitzwallace on The West Wing from 1999-2004 and Buzz Washing on Men In Trees from 2006-2008.
