Death Note 2: What can fans expect from the sequel

Published by

Death Note 2 Updates: Death Note is an American neo-noir supernatural thriller film that is a loose adaptation of the Japanese manga of the same name which was created by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata.

The Adam Wingard directorial initially screened at FrightFest in London on 24 August 2017 and then released on Netflix on August 25, 2017. The film was written by Charles & Vlas Parlapanides and Jeremy Slater.

Though the film received mixed to negative response from the audience, the sequel for the film is currently under work with Greg Russo serving as the screenplay writer. Read on to know everything related to the movie.

Death Note 2: Cast and Crew details

Reportedly Adam Wingard is already involved in many projects like Godzilla vs Kong and many untitled projects, it will be difficult for Netflix to bring him back on board for the sequel. But Greg Russo the writer of Mortal Kombat and the untitled Resident Evil Reboot has been confirmed to write the story for the sequel of Death Note.

The cast of the first part included Nat Wolff (Light Turner / Kira), Lakeith Stanfield(Lebensborn Atubia), Margaret Qualley as Mia Sutton / Kira, Shea Whigham as Detective James Turner, Paul Nakauchi as Watari and Jason Liles and Willem Dafoe as Ryuk.

Producer Masi Oka was also seen making a cameo in the movie as a Tokyo police detective investigating officer. As many characters were killed in the movie, many characters won’t be seen returning in the sequel of the movie but like the movie, as all about supernatural elements and death, nothing can be guaranteed. As of now, no announcement about the cast of the sequel has been made.

What can be the possible plot

The movie Death Note basically revolves around the story of Light Turner, an American high school student who finds a mysterious supernatural notebook known as ‘Death Note’.

The book can kill anyone whose name is written in its pages and the story develops as he Light meets death god Ryuk who is the owner of Death Note.

As the film is an adaptation of Japanese manga of the same name, so the sequel will also be based on the same but as the storyline of part 1 was quite controversial, fans might see some minor necessary changes in the sequel.

When can we get the Release date?

The movie is yet to go into production for its principal filming and no confirmations have been made regarding its release date neither from Netflix nor Greg Russo. So, it would useless to make any assumptions about the same.
