Recently Netflix hosted a virtual post-screening Q&A, where Vanessa shared how important the film’s 23 minutes opening sequence was to her. Kirby said the team was determined to show “birth in all its glory, in its difficulty, and its pain and its horror and its majesty.”

She further added-“I knew that I had to understand every minute of what labor was like.” She also said, “the more I spoke to the suffering women, the more I found difficult society finds to talk about it.

She also stated that women feel that their bodies had failed and in some way, they failed at their child. She also spoke to a woman who describes her grieving as the loneliest feeling in the whole world.
