Mom Season 8: Anna Faris Revealed why killing off Christy wasn’t an Option?

Mom Season 8 Updates: When Anna Faris made her decision to exit the show( Mom) public, it came as a surprise and unexpected disappointment to the fans of the show keeping in mind how long Anna Faris has been playing the role of Christy Plunkett beautifully.

We saw the showrunner of the show Mom, Gemma Baker, talk about Christy’s absence in the premier of the eighth season of Mom in what we can call it a pretty safe way that killing the character off the show was never what the writers considered `an option`.

Mom Season 8: Anna Faris Revealed

The actress confirmed the news of her departure from the CBS sitcom in September saying that she would like to explore other opportunities outside Mom. Even though, their could have been a lot of ways to kill the character Christy or send her off with a scholarship.

While talking to EW about this, Gemma Baker said that since the fans were attached to Christy for seven seasons, they could not give her a depressing departure. She also added that Christy’s character will live on and they will get regular updates about her.

According to her the character earning a scholarship into law school makes a lot more sense and the fans would not have enjoyed her death anyway.

The hard part where Bonnie has to move on was shown a little in the premier where she cried a lot after dropping Christy but at least they were partly tears of joy.

The writer also commented on how they handled Ferris exit which was definitely sad. After the long way the show has come, they did not panic on the news and she also told the viewers to expect the other star characters of the show to come into spotlight after Christy gone.

It is not possible for all the stars to receive the same amount of centre stage but it surely sounds a fun way to go about the eighth season of Mom considering how the show has lost two main stars this season.

The fresh episodes of season 8 of CBS’s Mom will start to air every Thursday at 9 P.M ET.
