Harlots Season 4 Update: Alison Newman and Moira Buffini created a period drama entitled Harlots, said to be inspired by Hallie Rubenhold’s novel named The Covent Garden Ladies. The first season of Harlots premiered in the UK on 27 March 2017 and two days later in the US on 29 March 2017.

When Hulu canceled the series for the United States, BBC Two cut in to claim the broadcasting rights of the show. The network provided the show to the viewers at the time of the pandemic, a good move. Harlots hit BBC screen on 5 August 2020 and were already renewed for the subsequent two seasons. At the same time, it was predetermined that there will be no season four for Harlots.

The cast of Harlots Season 4:

  • Samantha Morton plays a mother of two daughters and a sex worker, Margaret Wells. She is the main protagonist of the story and determined to change her daughter’s fate.
  • Jessica Brown Findlay plays a witty girl and Margaret’s eldest daughter, Charlotte Wells.
  • Eloise Smyth plays the beloved daughter of Margaret and a sex worker, Lucy Wells.
  • Lesley Manville plays the rigid lady of a brothel where Margaret used to work. Her character’s name is Lydia Quigley.
  • Dorothy Atkinson plays as a pawn of Lydia, Florence Scanwell.
  • Douggie McMeekin plays the son of Lydia who has a crush on one of the sex workers of his mother’s brothel. His name in the series is Charles Quigley.
  • Holli Dempsey brings Emily Lacey to life who is the love interest of Charles and an impulsive sex worker.

The storyline of Harlots:

The story is of London in its 1760s. We follow a determined woman, Margaret Wells as she strives to make life better for those around her. As a madame of a brothel, Margaret makes sure that her workers are well paid but when opportunities shrink she moves the brothel to a different place. At the new place, she becomes an arch enemy for her previous employer Lydia Quigley.

Cancellation News:

On 10 June 2020, the news about the cancellation of Harlots Season 4 was out. At that time BBC was not even airing the first season.
