Published by

The Liberator Updates: Commemorating the struggle of World War II  soldiers, Netflix has brought a great series before us. This series, premiering this coming Veteran’s Day, November 11, on Netflix, is titled The Liberator is a new, four-part animated miniseries.

It features, the life of World War II infantry commander Felix “Shotgun” Sparks. He led the 157th Infantry Battalion of the 45th Division,.

Talking about this division, it was an integrated, Oklahoma National Guard unit of many different tribes like white cowboys, Mexican Americans, and Native soldiers (over 52 tribes) drawn from across the west.

Now let’s take a look at the artists behind such great work as The Liberator

  • It is written by Jeb Stuart (Die Hard, The Fugitive),
  • Directed by Greg Jonkajtys (Sin City, Pan’s Labyrinth, The Revenant) and
  • Produced by A&E Studios, Unique Features and Trioscope for Netflix,
  • The project is Trioscope’s first large project with Netflix and serves as their intro to the medium for large scale dramatic stories.
  • Crowley, coupled with Barr, serve as producers.

According to Jonkajtys, the developer of Trioscope Technology, this project was perfectly in place for Trioscope since it focuses little things about the performance of the actor, which helps it to become a great masterpiece like it is now.

Also, Trioscope has made different kinds of alterations in pixel flow and tracking so as not to rely on hand-drawn or rotoscoped shapes for the future.

Adapted from the story,  “The Liberator: One World War II Soldier’s 500-Day Odyssey” by Alex Kershaw,  it articulates one of the deadliest battles of World War II. Noting about the chivalrous battlefield scenario of maverick U.S. Army officer Felix Sparks and his infantry.

For the purpose of Europe, they had been fighting for 500 days. Their mutiny continued from Italy to France to the liberation of Dachau, through some of the most grueling battles of the war.

Most of the battles were often the most fatiguing. The troupe became the most celebrated troupe in the World War II period.

After spending 10 years in the army, Sparks retired as a colonel just after World War II. He was a part of Italy’s invasion.

Kershaw’s book, says that the horrors of Dachau led to some of Sparks’ men executing some German soldiers. He was the one who was able to put a stop to this.

After retiring from all these, he became a lawyer, a Colorado district attorney. After this he started serving in the Colorado Supreme Court and as commander of the Colorado National Guard, retiring as a Brigadier General.

He succumbed to his death in 2007. Thus the cosmos lost a brave soul like him.
