Batwoman Updates: The CW TV Network has let out two first-look pictures for the “Batwoman” suit. The new redesign is based around Ryan Wilder (Javicia Leslie), the first “Black” Batwoman.

The First “Black” Batwoman

The outfit will be highlighted beginning from Season 2, Episode 3. This will be the first original design for the new Batwoman to go public. Here, Leslie takes the role of Batwoman, formerly played by actress Ruby Rose, who drove the show during its first season.

Leslie is officially the first Black lady to depict a surprisingly realistic adaptation of Batwoman on TV or movie.

Leslie said in a statement that she loves the way that her portrayal of Ryan is turning into her own personal Batwoman. She said, “(Its) her swag, and her moment”

For Leslie, it was significant that watchers could judge by the outline that was a Black young lady. With the perfect suit and wonderful Afro, she definitely agrees that they’ve nailed it.

The new outfit was conceptualized by Maya Mani and made by Ocean Drive Leather. The afro wig was done by Janice Workman while Cory Roberts worked with the cosmetics.

Mani said the new design was is intended to feature Leslie’s actual physicality and offer a new take for the new character.

The dark and red outfit highlights different new contrasts, yet the most striking addition was the new wig. Gone are the straight red hair days, the new design brings in wavy hair with red streaks.

Additionally new to the character are the red gauntlets and another belt with the bat logo. The laser-scratched suit has many other differences easily visible in the first look pictures offered by the CW.

The suit embodies Ryan’s metamorphosis. From utilizing the Batwoman persona for dealing with personal grudges to finding the significance of the superhero as an image to Gotham City, said executive producer Caroline Dries in a public statement. As she’s not a similar individual as Kate Kane (Rose), the one who wore the suit before her, progressions must be made to mirror her own personal style.
