Netflix Movie His House: Everything we know so far

His House Updates: His House star Wunmi Mosaku revealed that she was not really into horror movies until she watched Get Out. She further added that the social issues reflected in Get Out made it a genre that she was really interested in.

Luckily His house does the same as it portrays the life of a young Sudanese refuge couple who are trying to adjust with their new lives with ghosts terrorising them. The movie, shows social issues through a horror lens. Also the other His House star Dìrísù playing Rial , stated that the human aspect of the story is as,, if not more, terrifying as the paranormal one. He also revealed that the two stars have discussed about the undeniable trauma that a couple like this faces in real life too.

How the show accumulated both social trauma and horror was the reason both of them were drawn to the project.

Netflix His House: Updates

Remi Weekes the writer and director of the movie saw the trouble faced by asylum seekers as an opportunity to bring the issue to the big screen’s light. While talking to Digital Spy, he talked about how asylum seekers cannot start a new life due to the strict rules and almost negligible resources. He also kept the setting vague as a metaphor of how the asylum seekers are not given exact idea about where they live in the country.

The horror fans need not be disappointed as the movie is definitely not a social issue drama and has terrifying scares and the horror regular Javier Bottet is playing the part in the movie to creep us out.

Dìrísù also expressed his gratitude for the chance of working with an actor as talented as Javier to which Weekes added that though terrifying on set, Javier was also hilarious and definitely made him laugh in the costume.

When His House arrives on Netflix on October 30 2020 it is sure to be a hit keeping in mind how beautifully it portrays horror and social issues.

Dìrísù continued that this was a good step towards diversity and that hopefully East and South Asian people, indigenous people along with black people will feel involved in the stories and it will be such a normal thing that it won’t even be a topic of discussion anymore.

Mosaku concluded that everybody deserves a chance to represent and get represented at the highest level.
