Shetland Season 6 Updates: Shetland is a Scottish crime-drama series made by ITV Studios. The series has been released for 5 seasons, with 26 episodes in all.
The first season of the show telecasted on March 10, 2013. With 5 successful seasons, the fans now anticipate the 6th season of the show.
BBC gave Shetland thumbs up in December 2019, and the fans received a Christmas treat when they got the news of the show’s renewal for another two seasons.
But it seems like the fans need to wait a bit more as the production of the show was put on a halt due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The 6th season of the show was meant to go on air in 2020, and the shooting for the 7th season was supposed to begin in 2021. But due to the ongoing world events, the makers were forced to delay the shooting.
Douglas Henshall posted on his Twitter handle regarding the upcoming shooting schedule. The tweet said, “For everyone asking about the next series of Shetland. The plan is that we start filming next February and shoot two series back-to-back if all goes well. So finger crossed. The scripts are good; I know that much”.
Let’s hope for the best. May everything happen as decided by the show-runners.

The story is expected to continue from where it left in the 5th season. In the last season, we saw jimmy investigating the murder of Daniel, a Nigerian man.
During the investigation, Jimmy’s sister disappeared, and Jimmy suspects the Heyes family, who is responsible for human trafficking, for killing Daniel and kidnapping his sister Zezi. However, the murderer was found from within the family.
The plot of the coming season was not revealed yet. But it is definitely going to be very interesting.
