The Boys Season 2: Why all the episodes are not aired together?

Published by

The Boys Season 2: Amazon’s superhero series The Boys is approaching the end of its second season. With the second season of the show, it managed to deliver a powerful message about American fascism right when the people needed it the most.

The question that arises in people’s minds is that when will the series actually be released? Currently, seven episodes of the series are on air, and the fans are desperately waiting for the 8th and final episode. The finale of the show is just a few days away from releasing on Amazon Prime Video.

The second season of the show was not released at once; three episodes were premiered first before shifting to a weekly schedule. New episodes are arriving every Friday on the streaming platform.

The show-runner Erik Kripke told Collider that “The airing schedule came actually when we were pretty close to being done- probably 3/4th of the way through post-production”.

While the first season of the show made all the episodes available at the same time in the signature style of Netflix original series, season 2 is taking a more complicated approach.

The first three episodes of the show were available on September 4, but since then, new episodes have been releasing weekly. This will continue until Friday, October 9th, 2020, when the season 2 finale will be released.

In mid-September, the creators released a five-minute mini-episode called Butcher. It was created after a substantial number of scenes starring Karl Urban.

Why were all the episodes not aired together?

All the episodes of the first season were aired together that made the fans think that why the same approach was not adopted for the next season.

Eric Kripke said that “Our feeling is that when it airs all eight at once, it becomes a sugar rush of a binge. People burn through it in a week or two. There is an intense amount of activity, and then it sort of fades”.

He also added, “There are lots of amazing moments in 2nd season, we want to give it time to marinate, so people can reflect on it and talk about it before they move on”.

In other words, the show makers want the fans to be engaged in the show. They want the series to be the talk of the town. So, if you wish to watch the whole series, the day is not so far.
