Haunting of Bly Manor: The reason behind the positive reviews & Other detail

Published by

Haunting of Bly Manor Updates: Mike Flanagan’s The Haunting of the Hill House released in 2018 was a resounding success and it’s successor promises the same. The critics that have reviewed The Haunting of Bly Manor, which is based loosely on the Henry James’ novella ‘The Turn of The Screw’ seem to be sure that the viewers will not be disappointed with this horror series.

It’s no secret that the 1989 horror story has been retold several times on the screen due to its immense popularity. After the January 2000 adaptation of the story, Floria Sigismondi’s ‘The Turning’ received a huge amount of negative response, fans surely have eyes on how close The Haunting of Bly Manor stays to its the source. We also cannot deny the fact that The Nightcomers and The Innocents did complete justice to the story on the big screen.

Haunting of Bly Manor: Updates

Not being a typical movie and having numerous episodes can prove to be a positive point for Mike Flanagan’s The Haunting of Bly Manor. It can now captivate its viewers with the gothic scenes that had to be previously excluded from movies due to time constraints.

After the beautiful yet scary adaptation of Shirley Jackson’s material named the same as the series The Haunting of the Hill House, there is no doubt that this time too, Mike Flanagan will do a really scary job. Though the rating may fluctuate in the following days, as of now his latest series has already earned a rating of 93% on rotten tomatoes.

It has also received various other positive responses from Collider, IGN, and Den of Geek to name a few.

Life is not a fairy tale. So, the positive reviews have come some negative ones. Most of the negative reviews are focused on the fact that The Haunting of Bly Manor will have a hard time matching the effortless scares its predecessor The Haunting of the Hill House created. The upcoming horror series is said to be more of a gothic love story with the supernatural at the backstage.

The negative reviews are not completely negative and have highlighted some positive aspects as well. Games Radar, Slash Film, and Roger Ebert seem to be a few of those who are not fully satisfied with the upcoming series.

We hope that all this shower of positivity plants the idea of the third installment in Mike Flanagan’s head.
